2010 - William Vigne Juicy Sweet Riesling

  • * Style: Sweet
  • * Type: Table
  • * Region: New York (Finger Lakes)

William Vigne (Vin-Ya) was the first generation of Fulkerson’s in New Amsterdam in about 1619. The Vignes were one of 30 Walloon families selected by the Dutch West India Company to establish a permanent settlement in New Netherlands [New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Connecticut]. The original Company plan was to send only five or six men to set up a fur trading post on Manhattan Island. The grapes for this wine were Estate grown at the Fulkerson Vineyards on Seneca Lake. Light and luscious with yellow plum, sweet apple and melon flavors with a fresh crisp acid. Fermentation was stopped to ensure residual sweetness, no sugar was added.

Serve with friends and summer barbeque. Enjoy with Ribs, Summer Salads or for after dinner.

2010 - William Vigne Dry Riesling

  • * Style: Dry
  • * Type: Table

Aromas of peach, apple and honey fill your senses. Generous, rounded flavors of soft lemon, peach and honeydew melon.
Serve with smoked salmon, Summer salads or grilled lemon chicken.

2010 - Riesling-Traminette

  • * Style: Med-Dry

  • * Region: New York (Finger Lakes)

WOW! A spectacular meeting of the two great Finger Lakes grapes that balance wonderfully together! The predominate Traminette nose of lychee nut, pink grapefruit and peach is complemented by the palate pleasing clean stylish taste of Riesling fruit with its spark of bright acidity. 0.2% rs (Riesling 55% / Traminette 45%)

Our Medium Dry Riesling has an aromatic tropical bouquet with an accent of pineapple. It is perfectly balanced and sweet, but still crisp. A superb “all occasion” wine to enhance appetizers, roast pork and even dessert. 2.2 % rs

2010 - Riesling Reserve

  • * Style: Med-Sweet
  • * Type: Table
  • * Region: New York (Finger Lakes)

Our Estate Grown “Old Clone” Riesling from ancient vines produces a lower yield, yet higher quality grape. Scintillating deep aromas of crisp lemon and peach on the nose. The palette is crisp, yet refreshing with a taste of apricot, peach and lemon-zest and a hint of gentle acidic-mineral in the finish. 0.2% rs

Let the fragrant nose of green melon, pear and honey lead you onto vibrant refreshing tastes of crisp lemon and grapefruit. The acidic mineral finish is a true palate cleanser – that’s why we love Riesling! 0.2% rs

Sayre Fulkerson, 6th generation on the family farm, with his wife Nancy, opened the winery in 1989 with a release of only 1,000 cases of wine. This was a logical expansion from their beginning venture of selling grape juice when they acquired Jensen Juice from Glenora Wine Cellars in 1979. They gradually built a customer base that exceeds 5,000+ home winemakers today.

Sayre, also the winemaker, has slowly increased the production of wine over the ensuing years to maintain the distinctive fine quality that has awarded his wines with hundreds of medals. Fulkerson Winery currently produces 30,000+ cases annually for the winery’s retail space and the wholesale market, which includes New York State, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida.

Sayre graduated from Cornell in 1975 with a degree in pomology, the study of fruit production. He began his career in winemaking at Glenora Wine Cellars as an assistant to John Williams, presently at Frogs Leap in California. Nancy graduated from Elmira College and handles the financial end of their business.

Another hat Sayre wears is overseeing the care of 106 acres of vineyards. The vineyards are a mix of well known grapes and some lesser known varieties that he has introduced to his wine list such as Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Lemberger, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Noiret, Dornfelder, Vincent, Riesling, Chardonay, Traminette, Gewurztraminer, Cayuga, Niagara, Catawba and Himrod, known and loved as Matinee. He also grows varieties exclusively for his juice customers such as Leon Millot, DeChaunac, Cascade, Concord, Aurora, Seyval, Valvin Muscat and Chancellor to name a few..

All this hard work has generated a successful enterprise that demanded more room. Construction of a new building, on the same site as the old one, began in May 2004. The new Fulkerson Winery tasting room, expanded juice plant and retail/gift shop opened on February 18th, 2005 to great acclaim and fan fare.

The same friendly staff at Fulkerson Winery will continue to make your visit an informative, relaxing and pleasant experience. Come savor the unique!
