Jacob's Creek
Jacob’s Creek Steingarten Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Australia
Jacob’s Creek Steingarten is the iconic super-premium ‘dry’ Riesling produced under the Jacob’s Creek label. The grapes are harvested from older Riesling blocks within the high altitude Barossa Ranges. These prized Riesling vineyards are of Easterly aspect, being protected from the afternoon sun by the surrounding hills and ranges. Soils are shallow over predominately fractured shale or schist rock, driving the classic minerally flavour of this wine. The Steingarten vineyard itself is a ‘unique’ Riesling vineyard in Australia. It is carefully managed using traditional, labour-intensive techniques to give maximum regional and varietal expression.
Jacob’s Creek Steingarten Riesling displays classic cool climate Riesling characters, revealing intensely flavoured lime, grapefruit and rose petal characters, which are harmoniously entwined with a ‘dry’ flinty mineral regional structure that adds persistence and length, providing the potential to develop further with careful cellaring. A perfect match with natural oysters and any delicate white fish dish.

Jacob’s Creek Classic Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Australia
The Jacob’s Classic Riesling was first released in 1984 and immediately became popular in Australia as a contemporary ‘dry’ Riesling style. Special care is required when producing quality wine from the Riesling grape. Our winemaking philosophy is to harvest premium grapes during cool conditions to ensure the delicate citrus varietal flavours are captured in the finished wine.
The Jacob’s Creek Classic Riesling is sourced from a diverse selection of South East Australian grape regions to ensure consistent quality and wine style with each vintage release. The Jacob’s Creek Classic Riesling has attractive floral ester and lime blossom intensity. It is soft and zesty, with fresh lime flavours and soft supporting acidity that makes this wine immediately approachable as a refreshing drinking style. Being ‘dry’ this wine is an easy match for any delicate seafood and salad dish.
Jacob's Creek
Jacob’s Creek Reserve Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Australia
The Jacob’s Creek Reserve Riesling is a premium quality ‘dry’ Riesling style. Grapes are sourced from South Australian vine regions, including the famous Clare Valley, Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. The Clare Valley is renowned for its rich, tropical lime flavours; the Barossa Valley provides richness and generosity to the palate, while Eden Valley adds elegant lemony structure. The Riesling grapes are harvested in the cool of the night at less than 15C in order to maximise the fresh citrus flavours. The Jacob’s Creek Reserve Riesling typically displays fresh spicy lime-tropical fruit notes and cool climate overtones. A fine natural acidity balances the powerful fruit flavours providing the potential to develop further with careful cellaring in the short to medium term. Ideal with crab, lobster and any delicate fish dish.
2010 Taylors Wines
St Andrews Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Australia
At release, the wine is a very pale straw colour with a slight green tinge to the edge. This wine originally looked quite closed and shy but now after some bottle age, is starting to evolve and flourish. Lime, citrus and subtle tropical fruit are emerging with piercing intensity and the smallest hint of toast. A fragrant back ground aroma of ginger and spice is also evident. The wine has substantial palate weight, showing great depth and generosity of flavour. The palate is zesty with citrus flavours carrying throughout and then long after the wine has left the mouth. The structure is rich, full and long but the finish is soft and elegant.

Xabregas Riesling>>
- Style: Med-Dry
- Type: Table

Riesling demands a great deal of respect as a grape, and so winemaking influence is minimal and therefore the attention is on the developing flavours and acidity levels in the vineyard. Once the balance is achieved then we make every effort in the winery to retain those precious flavours experienced in the vineyard.
An abundance of aromatics showing citrus, lavender and apricot blossom, with nuances of cloves and cinnamon spice. A medium dry palate with kaffir lime rind, lemon sherbet and freshly cut green apple crunch, delicate, sweet fruit and natural acid balance creates a perfect persistence of many flavours.

Langmeil Eden Valley Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Australia
Langmeil has always championed Riesling, the world's finest white. Eden Valley, high above the Barossa floor, allows Riesling the potential for great bottle age and ability to transmit the characteristics of the soil, without compromising its inimitable character. After harvest, the pristine fruit is gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures to produce this delicate, yet intense wine, balanced with crisp natural acidity, typical of the renowned Eden Valley region of the Barossa. This wine may be enjoyed now but will be even better if kept for a few years.

2008 Madrona Vineyards
Riesling - Speciality Collection>>
- Style: Sweet
- Type: Late Harvest
- Region: California
Select Harvest Rieslings are rare and relatively difficult to make. Produced from Riesling infected by the Noble Rot (Botrytis Cineria) in years when the climate is just perfect (rains during the harvest followed by warm, dry conditions), the berries are dehydrated due to the mold. Although the resulting juice is extremely sweet (30%-45% sugar), the acid levels are balanced. And unlike most rots, Botrytis has very enticing characters of rich honey and intense apricot. It is no wonder then that Botrysized Rieslings make some of the most expensive and most sought-after wines in world!
Yet another fantastic vintage in a long stream of wonderful Rieslings dating back to 1985! The 2008 vintage is more akin to a German Beerenauslese, due to the lower harvest brix level of 30 degrees. Thus the balance between Botrytis intensity and Riesling freshness is more intriguing. The aromas are a mélange of Riesling’s tart apple and tangy tangerine fruit married with an essence of mountain honey and ripe apricots.
However, it’s the palate that makes this wine so unique among its peers. The texture is classically rich, yet elegant with wonderful acidity. Medium-bodied and not too sweet, the palate is a glorious blend of honey, carol syrup, apple crisp and just a hint of lemon zest to balance it all. Lingering long into the finish, the lusciousness of this Select Harvest Riesling just makes you dream for one more sip!

Riesling - Black Label>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: California
As I taste through the barrels in preparation of making final blends, I invariably come across a barrel that is positively special. The characters may be intense or subtle, unusually fruity or complex, but the single barrel screams be bottled separately to retain the unique aspects that show the exquisite nature of our diverse vineyards. Single-vineyard lots are traditionally bottled unfined and unfiltered. These wines exhibit a purity and a sense of place seldom seen in California wine
It There is no wonder why Riesling is considered one of the four noble varieties of the world when one tastes the ’07 Black Label Riesling. Boldly Riesling with a nod to distinct styles, this wine exemplifies classic European structure with a splash of California fruit. The undeniable impact of our high-elevation vineyards is the complexity of the nose in this wine. Gooseberry, lemon tart and tart green apple vie for the most intense character while being framed by an enticing fusil oil richness. Spend a moment longer on the bouquet, and the fruit shifts to kiwi, pineapple and lime.
All of the high-acid fruit characters in the aromas meld together on the palate, constantly refreshing the experience. Lime then apple, kiwi then lemon, and the revolution of the fruit just continues on, but always held together with the minerality of great Riesling on the edges. Tart and fresh, the texture is bright, but uncommonly rich for such an acidic wine, which is positively playful with the senses. A great vintage for making a great wine, there is no question why we decided showcase our vineyard-designate wines with this Riesling!
2010 Madrona Vineyards
Riesling - Hillside Collection>>
- Style: Med-Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: California
Using the great Rieslings of Germany as our inspiration, this variety has become a specialty of the winery. A long, cool fermentation preserves the complex array of fruit and floral qualities found in our grapes. While many don't have the patience to wait, our Rieslings have an impressive track record of ageability, comparable to the best of Germany.
The 2010 vintage was a wonderful vintage for cool-climate Riesling. A cool spring, a moderate summer and good weather during harvest has produced a Riesling with great acidity coupled with ripe fruit characters. The aromas are hallmark Riesling, fresh yet inherently complex. Tree-ripened apple, Meyers lemon and rich honey frame an interesting spice character of cardamom, allspice and green tea.
With the off-dry style (1.0% residual sugar), the art is finding that perfect balance of bright acidity and luscious texture. And the 2010 vintage hits it. Mountain honey characters burst out then meld into tart green apple, finishing with a Riesling minerality that almost makes the wine seem dry. From start to finish, this wine shows exactly why Riesling is considered one of the four Noble varieties of the world!
2010 Madrona Vineyards
Riesling - Signature Collection>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: California
Our Reserve Dry Riesling has evolved over the years, emphasizing the unique fruit characters of hillside vineyards while celebrating the variety’s incredible acidity. With each year, we have refined our style, fermenting the wine drier while embracing its tart brightness. To our amazement, the result has been an incredible marriage of intense California fruit with European structure and style. I don’t think we could ask for more!
The 2010 Vintage:
A late spring, moderate summertime temperatures and an early harvest in late September have given us one of the most exciting Rieslings in years. The cool-climate characters of Granny Smith apples, fresh lemon and floral notes of Spring fill the aromas of this wine. Wonderfully elegant, the complexity of the nose alone entices one to take a sip. This freshness continues through the palate with a brightness not often seen in California Rieslings. Tart green apple greets the senses on the forepalate, but the tartness is balanced by a honey richness, giving this dry wine a sensation of luscious texture. And from this, the wine once again returns to its liveliness, finishing on the continuum with a hint of lemon/lime crispness.

Riesling has a unique versatility that is afforded few grapes. Wine made in styles of sticky-sweet late harvest or as a dry table wine reflect the brilliant fruit and acid structure that Riesling has to offer. Our 2009 is the third harvest off our Carter Estate Vineyards and it shows wonderful potential for such a young vineyard. The Character is pure Riesling, and it is unmistakable; Candied, spicy hints of nutmeg and clove, apples with scented tropical fruit and leechee nut (often spoke of but rarely seen) are finished off with just the right sweetness and acidity. Hallmarks of what made Germany famous of Riesling. This is a riper, fuller style of Riesling that has lush character and can stand up to a variety of food pairings. Pork schnitzel and braised cabbage with apples, ripe cheeses and fruit of a spectacular Temecula sunset would match up with this elegant wine. Amen.

Botrytis Riesling>>

The cool wet October weather of the 2007 vintage was ideal for the Botrytis Cinerea fungus or “Noble Rot” to manifest on late-ripening Riesling clusters, causing the grapes to shrivel and concentrate in flavor. We laboriously hand sorted these raisined grapes, berry by berry, in order to make a sweet-style wine of uncommon intensity and richness. It shows beautiful honeyed flavors of ripe pineapple and apricot with a hint of vanilla and cedar in the finish from one month of aging in a traditional German oak oval. Semi-Sweet Riesling>>
- Style: Med-Sweet
- Type: Table
- Region: New York (Finger Lakes)
Wine Characteristics
A delicate floral aroma followed by peach and ripe melon flavors with a soft, lingering finish. Our Semi-Sweet Riesling is comparable in sweetness levels to German Spätlese Rieslings. The process by which we sweeten the wine is known as “Süss Reserve” which is a technique used often in Germany and other high quality Riesling regions. Instead of back sweetening a dry Riesling with store bought cane sugar, we set aside a certain volume of Riesling juice each vintage which is frozen in tank and left unfermented. In spring during blending, the juice is thawed and then added back to the wine to the desired level, resulting in a juicy, all naturally-sweetened wine.
Food Pairings
A great luncheon, picnic or cocktail wine. As the perfect warm-weather wine, try with ice and a splash of sparkling water as a spritzer. Don’t be afraid to experiment. This wine offers a wide range of food pairing possibilities from pulled pork sandwiches, curried chicken, grilled salmon with mango salsa or as an apéritif.

Speck Family Reserve Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Ontario
We have been producing Riesling wines from this vineyard site since its first crop in 1988. The crop is significantly reduced with attention to the smallest details of viticulture on a vine by vine basis. This, combined with the contribution that only fully mature vines can provide, gives us the winemaking basis for the best Riesling yet produced by Henry of Pelham. The greatest wines usually employ the most simple of winemaking techniques, in this case a cool fermentation, very limited and gentle handling, and some maturation in bottle. Will age for 8 to 12 years from vintage

Reserve Dry Riesling>>
- Style: Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Oregon
Our dry Riesling is produced in very limited quantities from selected lots from our Corral Creek and Stoller Vineyards. Our intent is to reflect ripe fruit that is highly focused with pinpoint acidity. This is a serious Riesling, not a quaffer, a big wine with brilliant, rich fruit, bright acid, and a weighty palate. The acidity provides ageability and great structure, making it perfect with food and cleansing on the palate. It continues the viscous, intense, Alsatian-styled wines that our Pinot Gris Reserve starts; it is harvested late with full ripeness and a touch of botrytis, giving the most intense dry Riesling we can make.

SEXT Riesling>>
- Style: Sweet
- Type: Sparkling
- Region: Oregon
The 2008 vintage was so great for Riesling that we wanted to continue something we played with in 2007, a semi-sparkling dessert wine. As we’ve done in other creative bursts, we started by looking at dining habits. We love the multiple uses of a young, sparkling wine, from enjoying as an aperitif to toasting at a celebration to pairing with assertive foods. A bracingly acidic, slightly sweet version is what we often choose for creamy desserts, such as panna cotta. We consider this possibly the best, all-purpose dessert wine.

Umpqua Valley, Oregon riesling>>
- Style: Med-Dry
- Type: Table
- Region: Oregon
2008 Umpqua Valley, Oregon riesling – We sourced our riesling in 2008 entirely from the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton. The vintage was ideal for this late ripening variety. We were able to let the fruit hang until October 30, without danger from frost and with a minimal amount of botrytis formation. For us, a little botrytis gives more complexity in the mixture of fruit flavors. The fruit came in in perfect condition, 21.5 Brix, 8.7g/L acid and pH3.07. We cold settle the juice and ferment cool in stainless with a variety of yeasts friendly to producing expressions of pure riesling fruit. The wine was bottled off dry with 1.86 residual sugar, 8.55g/L acid and a pH 3.02. The wine is pale straw. The aromas are an enticing mix of peach, quava, nectarine and green apples with a subtle hint of fresh pine boughs. The flavors are dominated by the peaches and green apples with some lime and a cleansing minerality. The acidity is firm and the finish is long, lingering, pleasing and quite dry.

2009 Umpqua Valley riesling Our source for riesling, the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton, always comes in very late in the vintage, October 28 in 2009. The fermentation did not finish up until December leaving 1.2% residual sugar at a low pH3.15. The color is a pale straw. The aromas are highlighted by green apples and bosc pears with subtler shadings of candied orange and orange blossoms with blackberry honey. The flavors carry on with tart green apple tempered by lemon curd with a honey coated finish. The mouthfeel is fairly full bodied with a lingering finish, an intriguing play between the sweetness and acidity leaving a lasting impression that calls out for more.

Vin de Glacière>>
- Style: Sweet
- Type: Ice Wine
- Region: Washington
89 points! International Wine Cellar
We pick the Vin de Glacière Riesling grapes around 22.5% sugar in order to preserve the natural acidity of the grapes. The grapes are then frozen. The wine shows loads of pear, and some honey and horse radish. On the palate, the wine is surprisingly light and aromatic but not syrupy or heavy. This has to do with the great acidity (0.88%) in the wine. The 10.4% Ethanol makes the wine very refreshing and quite food friendly.
